Are you planning to sell your home this fall? It is a great time to sell as people are settling into new routines and it is the start of a new season! Getting your home ready for sale is just as important in the fall and maintaining curb appeal requires different attention then in the spring and summer. Check out these tips for optimal selling potential!

Clean up your yard

It’s the time of year when leaves start falling off the trees, but while it is nice to look at, fallen leaves take away from the beauty of your yard. Make a good first impression and remove fallen leaves with a rake or leaf blower. Although it will be a lot of work, buyers will appreciate it!

Make your home warm and cozy

Keep your home cozy both inside and out. Everyone wants a nice warm and welcoming feeling when they walk into a home, fall decor is perfect for that! Add fall decor such as fall colours, cozy blankets, and a fall wreath on the front door. Light some candles and light your fireplace if you have one for optimal coziness!

Skip the halloween decor

Halloween decorating is fun and festive, but not optimal for selling. It takes away from the beauty of your home. If you still want to decorate, opt for items that are easy to store during showings such as pumpkins and other decor that does not hang on the house walls. It’s important to not take away the viewing experience for your buyers.

Lighting is key

During the week, showings often take place after work hours, and with it getting darker earlier, lighting is so important when someone is viewing your home. Here are a few things you can do to bring light to your space;

  • Add patio and walkway lighting outside
  • Clean your windows and screens
  • Open your blinds and curtains to expose the windows fully
  • Try to show your home earlier in the day

Freshen up your outdoor space

As the weather becomes more cold and windy, your plants will start wilt and who wants to look at that? To keep your home welcoming, it’s best to replace or remove them. Also consider freshening up any paint that has had a lot of sun exposure or has chipped due to humidity in the summer.

Fall is the perfect time for new beginnings. Follow these tips for your fall sale, and your home will be sold in no time!
